About me

My name is Sarah and I live within the grounds of Downton Abbey – Highclere Castle, Burghclere, Hampshire in a wooden swiss style chalet. I have no hot water and a log burner for the heating. It’s a small place, with my nearest neighbours being the chickens, ducks and sheep.

I enjoy walking my small terrier, Jazz up and down Beacon Hill, which lies within the grounds of Highclere Castle and has Lord Carnarvon of Tutankhamun fame buried at the top. The hill is open to the public and is certainly a good work out for the not so fit.

As a child I enjoyed drawing and sketching but did not pursue this through school, choosing to find a job that paid the bills instead. In 2013 I decided to start drawing again in graphite pencil but following a rather harsh critique I put my pencils away for another 6 years. That was until March 2019 when I came across an owl picture that was just screaming out to me to be drawn. I decided to treat myself to a set of Fabre Castell Polychromos coloured pencils and away I went.

Since March 2019 I have been continuously striving to improve my art and became a Bonny Snowdon patreon in June 2019 doing tutorials and workshops. Since then I have seen my technique and art skills leap forward.

I love being creative and I strive to capture your pet or animals as realistically as I can. Nothing gives me greater pleasure than hearing that I have captured a pet’s character from one of my clients.

I prefer to work with coloured pencils and because of this my artwork is not a fast process. Some pieces can take upwards of 30 hours to create. I am an active member of the UK Coloured Pencil Society and have had my artwork entered into Bonny Snowdon’s online exhibition this year. In October 2020 my Trotters Inc. portrait was published in the Colour Pencil Magazine.
